On the Road of the Tsars,
an Imperial 2002 Master
1-11 August 2002
"Unable to estimate the impact of current events, the Master Rallye
Organisation Committee has decided to establish the route of the 2002
edition in The East, from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea, tracing the
Tsars and the great Imperial Russia", René Metge, conscious of the obvious
difficulty to return to the routes of the Orient, announced this new route
this week.
The course of approximately 6000 km, including 4000 of specials, will
allow certain loyal followers of the Master to meet up again with several
legendary legs during this 100% Slavonic edition.
After the departure from Saint Petersburg, we will run along the multiple
twists and turns of the great Matouchka Volga, navigate between the taiga
and the immensity of the semi-desert steppes, cross the dunes of Astrakhan
on the shores of the Caspian, which will lead the competitors to the great
undulating prairies of the Kalmoukie (Little Mongolia). The finish will be
celebrated with distinction close to Anapa, along the imperial beaches on
the famous Slavonic Riviera and champagne will overflow in the incredible
caves of Abrau-Durso…
True to his values, René Metge has designed a very varied course, with
legs which will cross several great imperial towns, sporty specials in
incredible sites and as always a skilful balance of driving and navigation
which makes the Master Rallye one of the "pleasurable" events in the FIA
– FIM World Cup.
Entrance fees remain very attractive, and the
"Amateur" category thus
allows entrance at only 19 000 FF, for seasoned competitors, an average
price of 23 000 FF must be planned, without the boat return from the Black
Sea.
For this 8th edition, the Master will live up to its reputation,
guaranteed conviviality by "Jojo’s" bivouac generals in natural sites, and
more than ever the insurance of optimum safety conditions throughout the
course, leaving however ample room for original discoveries of peoples,
cultures, countries which welcome us to share their history.
As soon as he has returned from reconnaissance, René Metge will present
you with this new epic with a Slavonic accent, carried by the entrancing
murmurs of the steppes, the promise of a new look at a new race…
