Dear Friends,
For this 7th edition of the MASTER
RALLYE, we have decided to give all magical magnitude to figure 7 by
leading you to the Cross-roads of the Routes of the Orient. From the
Riviera to Petra, you will be the first to tread the fabulous Kings’
Route and to follow in the footsteps of Sir Laurence of Arabia as part of
an international competition.
Throughout the 2 500 km of specials
which you will contend during this round of the FIA and FIM World Cups,
you will go back in time traversing the 8 500 years of history which forge
the spirit of this brand new course.
The MASTER 2001 will remain faithful to
its unique values, the marvellous mixture of competition, mankind and its
history, which you have contemplated and respected throughout the
countries which have marked out our event for the last 7 years.
The characteristic of the MASTER is the
variety of these terrains, I wished to complete this palette with the
grain of sand which was missing and that you are so fond of:
deserts, those of Syria and Jordan, never having welcomed this type of
event but which will not detract anything from the navigation road-book. I
will however steer the course on departures from villages, but the balance
of the MASTER RALLYE will be maintained: 50 % driving, 50% navigation.
Departure and prologue from Cannet Côte-d’Azur
on 1 August, the Italian boot for the first sports limbering up, a sea
crossing of approximately 8 hours and you will wake up in Greece, the
Dardanelle’s straits and Turkey for 3 days’ racing, the entry into
Syria where we should be spending 2 remarkable days, and Jordan at last
where the last 48 hours of the MASTER 2001 race will be fought, closed by
an unforgettable arrival in Petra, the Nabatean… on 11 August 2001.
We are repeating the 100 asphalt
assistance course which appealed to you last year, allowing everyone to
engage assistance, often given up because too expensive; as well as
the nature bivouacs in enchanting settings.
We are tuned in to you and while we are
waiting for the magic to operate, the entire MMG team and I send you our
most sincere wishes for success in this 3rd millennium.
